National Housing Day

National Housing Day remembers the day in 1998 the Big City Mayor’s Caucus of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities declared homelessness to be a state disaster. National housing day happens on November 22nd every year and has gone from one day of events to a week of events spanning from Nov 16th 22nd.

The Toronto Real Estate Board ( TREB ) in partnership with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Habitat for Humanity Canada and Evergreen City Works hold and partake in a variety of initiatives targeted at raising awareness about the significance of affordable housing in the GTA.

Collaborating with our partners, TREB was able to compile statistics on the state of reasonable housing in the GTA and Canada.
